We are taking advantage of our industry colleagues and learning from each other. And we are also committed to implementing all appropriate health and safety measures in line with applicable government regulations and relevant industry best practices and guidelines.
While we are making every effort to create the safest and smoothest experience, our efforts’ success will depend greatly on our guests’ support. Therefore, we ask for your cooperation as we navigate this period together. Still, we want our guests to feel comfortable and will do everything we can to avoid an oppressive stressful environment while attending diligently to guest and team member safety.

UNDERSTANDING GUIDELINES & BEST PRACTICES:
All our team members will be receiving training, taken through all-new processes in detail, given frequent health checks, and provided with PPE. We are closely monitoring government policy changes, Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, government mandates, and public health advancements and will continue to make changes as necessary or appropriate to our protocols and procedures. All local and state restrictions will be adhered to and revised as directed.
Enhanced cleaning and sanitation will be implemented throughout our property, focusing on high-contact surfaces and deep cleaning between guests. Hand sanitizer will be provided in common areas– and we ask you to use it regularly. We will also be implementing a no-touch policy, so no handshakes or high-fives for the moment. Keep in mind, too, that we do not clean or re-provision guest rooms during your stay, and unless specifically requested and with your express permission, we don’t enter guest rooms during your stay. But if you need anything, of course, let us know, and we will safely and respectfully assist.
We are using technology to assist us in our cleaning sanitation efforts. Examples include the Stabilized Aqueous Ozone or SAO disinfection system from www.tersano.com, hospital-grade ultraviolet germicidal irradiation tools from www.mrsa-uv.com, high-quality air purifiers in each guest suite and the main common area from www.medifyair.com, and high efficacy sanitary bedding barriers from www.cleanrest.com. We will continue to explore additional innovative technologies and techniques to support our efforts to ensure guest health and well-being.
Our house spaces will be reconfigured to facilitate social distancing wherever possible. In accordance with Governor Roy Cooper's Executive Order 215, social distancing requirements, capacity limits, and mask mandates in most settings have been lifted in Buncombe County. Masks will still be required in schools, healthcare, transportation, childcare, correctional and detention facilities, and homeless service settings. In addition, private businesses may require face coverings for employees and guests. Unvaccinated individuals are recommended to continue to wear face coverings.
Applewood Manor will no longer ask guests to wear face coverings or social distance, however, if you request our staff wear masks we will honor your request.
We comply with North Carolina and Buncombe County applicable health and food safety regulations in our kitchen and food preparation areas. We are subject to ongoing health inspections by the local health department.
AVOID CROWDS WITH THE PRIVACY OF OUR B&B:
Because our property only has six guest rooms and sits on a large 1.1. acre lot, our guests inherently benefit from an environment that is not crowded. Nor are our guests likely to encounter people not staying at the property unless invited and authorized by our team. Our common spaces are quite large compared to many other older homes in the area, thereby enabling us to configure our décor in such a way to allow guests to socially distance, while still relaxing in comfort. As a result, our guests can enjoy the inviting common areas of the house along with other guests. There are no small hallways or bottlenecks inside the house that will cause guests to frequently come into close contact when coming or moving about the house.
A CLEAN BED – THE MOST IMPORTANT SAFE SPACE:
All our beds are made in compliance with industry guidelines starting with a CleanRest Pro hypoallergenic, waterproof, and beg bug resistant full mattress encasement. This product is a MicronOne® fabric that has attained the CDC’s highest classification for barrier performance (level 4). Our pillows and duvets also feature similar protective layering below the fine linens. On top of the CleanRest barrier, we place an additional, freshly cleaned mattress cover. All bed linens, including pillow barriers, are completely removed between guest stays and then washed in hot water using the heavy-duty cycle in our Speed Queen equipment. Blankets are placed separately from the bed in a soft plastic container to use at the guest’s option. If used, blankets are also washed. After washing and once placed on the bed, we treat all bed fabrics with the sanitizing spray from our Tersano SAO system. Accent pillows and any other fabric surface on the bed, including the headboard and adjacent surfaces, are sanitized with the Tersano SAO system.
