This suite was the original sitting room for Captain Perry and his wife and the largest of our guest suites on the house’s 2nd floor. This room has a private balcony with a view of the side and back yards and a glimpse of the surrounding mountains in the winter and spring months.
This suite was originally the bedroom for the Captain’s daughter and looks out to the front of the house with a seasonal view of the surrounding mountains and the stately white pine trees surrounding the property.
The Macintosh suite was the sitting room for Captain Perry’s daughter. The updated en-suite bath has a two-person pneumatic tub/shower combination perfect for a soothing bath salt soak after a long bike ride or hike in the mountains.
What used to be Captain Perry’s sleeping quarters is now our coziest room and best value. The suite has windows looking out the front of the house with a seasonal view of Town Mountain and a view of the south lawn where our future Pétanque court will be placed.
Found on the third floor of the main house, the Winesap Suite is our most spacious suite running the structure’s full length. It was originally the maid’s quarters. To brighten the room, two new skylights have recently been added to complement the 1912 original.

“I booked the pet friendly Cortland Cottage at Applewood Manor for my Mom, my dog Olive and myself for right after Christmas. From the beginning Stephen and Robin were very communicative, responded quickly and provided a lot of great recommendations. They both were so friendly and I really enjoyed getting to talk with them and the other guests. The breakfasts every morning were delicious. Robin even left fresh baked cookies in our room. The rooms were clean and she explained the extensive cleaning procedures they’re doing during this time. We loved the main house too. It’s so beautiful, they have a lot of neat stories and art to look at and welcoming areas to just relax by one of the many fireplaces. We even had a bulldog play date with Olive and their 2 dogs, Cleo and Pearl. Mom and I had such a wonderful trip and we look forward to coming back to Asheville and staying at the Applewood Manor again!”
“B&B’s can be a gamble; this one paid off. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.”
“Robin and her able crew were the best. Taking in a wedding party – bride included – for a long weekend would stress most locations and staff; not here. The peaceful and calm location, amazing spaces and the fabulous food by Chef Chandler were spot-on. The Inn Keeper, Rain, could not have been more helpful and accommodating. As a side-note, in our 30+ year marriage we have had a ‘no B&B’ policy – VERY happy we made this exception!”
Everything we wanted an Asheville B&B to be!
“The Applewood Manor provided for an absolutely phenomenal Asheville experience. This place has it all…fantastic accommodations, location, hospitality, and Robin’s breakfasts are second to none. Thanks so much for sharing this beautiful homestead with us…we’ll be back!”
“Applewood Manor is amazing. Elegant yet comfortable with hosts who are welcoming yet respectful. We took the breadbaking class and Robin was so gracious throughout it. As foodies we had questions about everything- from the delicious chocolate chip cookies to how she makes her yogurt parfaits..clearly not related to breadbaking but Robin answered all our questions. The room was beautifully appointed and the most comfortable bed ever! A short distance to downtown we also got our walking in! A stay to remember – we will be back!!!”
“I can’t begin to describe how wonderful our stay was. Robin and Stephen were wonderful hosts and made us feel practically like family.
The Inn itself was beautiful and spacious. Robin’s breakfast was delicious, and aside from being warm and friendly, she was quick with recommendations and tips every morning.
Further, Stephen not only provided me downloaded bike routes based on my planned distance, time, effort, etc. with my bike rental, but he was kind enough to ride with me at my pace. He clearly is a much better cyclist and I am just a mediocre triathlete.
We had a wonderful stay and look forward to staying with Robin and Stephen again in the future.”
“I have been to Asheville several times before, but this was by far the best experience. Adjacent to downtown and in a lovely historic part of town, The Applewood Manor was simply fabulous. The personal touches everywhere and the guest experience was their number 1 goal – and – they succeeded. The breakfast was creative with everything made from scratch (including the yogurt – just yum!) and a more than satisfying regional gourmet experience. The rooms were appointed anything a traveler could want. I stayed in The Granny Smith room and had my very own deck and fireplace. Robin and Stephen & their team could not have been better hosts. Their selection of art and furnishings spared no expense which provided an authentic custom experience that was second to none. I will be back and will never stay downtown at a hotel or an Air BNB again – there is just no need to consider given the value & experience for the very reasonable rates all things considered.”
